Richard Chamberlain is an American award-winning actor famous for his appearance as a teen idol in the role of the TV Show Dr. Kildare from to He won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for the TV Series, Dr. Kildare (), Shogun (), and the mini-series The Thorn Birds (). In addition, he was the first role character to play Jason Bourne in the movie The Bourne Identity.
Richard won the Golden Apple Award for the Male Star of the year in At the Sitges-Catalan International Film Festival, he bagged the Clavell de Plata Award for Best Actor for The Last Wave. Richard has also appeared in several TV mini-series, such as Shogun in , Rescue 8 in , The Thorn Birds in , The Deputy in , and Island Son in just to mention a few. He also developed a strong interest and enjoyment in acting while attending Pomona College. Losing an initial chance to sign up with Paramount Pictures, the studio later renewed interest. Complications arose when he was drafted into the Unites States Army on December 7, for 16 months, serving in Korea.
