Youna Dufournet (born October 19, ) is a retired Frenchgymnast,[1] the World Vault bronze medalist, all-around champion of the Mediterranean Games,[2] and a Olympian.[3] She was born in Saumur.
In addition to her vaulting medal, Dufournet finished fifth in the all-around competition at the World Championships, the highest placement ever for a female French gymnast. PESCARA, Italie (AFP) - Sacrée à quatre reprises aux Jeux Méditerranéens, la jeune Youna Dufournet a l'étoffe pour devenir la nouvelle perle de la gymnastique française en vue des JO de Londres.
Elle n'a que quinze ans, mais la reine des Jeux c'est elle: avec quatre médailles d'or, plus une d'argent, elle quitte Pescara comme l'athlète féminine la plus titrée, seulement dépassée par le nageur tunisien Oussama Mellouli.
"Elle a été d'une solidité et d'une régularité exemplaire", constate le directeur technique national Daniel Goury au moment de pianoter sur son téléphone pour avertir son président de l'excellent résultat d'ensemble des gymnastes français.
"Je commence seulement à réaliser. Quatre médailles d'or, waouw", a été la première réaction de Defournet à l'issue de son dernier concours, au sol, le seul qu'elle ait raté, "fatiguée" après une semaine sur tous les fronts.
