Alviro Petersen: Former South Africa batsman banned for two years
In January, as part of the same investigation, former South Africa spinner Gulam Bodi was banned for 20 years after admitting charges of contriving or attempting to fix matches.
Then in August, CSA banned former wicketkeeper Thami Tsolekile for 12 years for his part in the scandal, while Pumelela Matshikwe, Ethy Mbhalati and Jean Symes received lesser bans for accepting money from Bodi.
A CSA statement said: "After considering representations made by Petersen, CSA has withdrawn certain charges against him, including those relating to fixing or contriving to fix any match and seeking, accepting or offering to accept any bribe or other reward to fix or influence any match."
Petersen added: "I would like to apologise to my family, friends, the public who are fans of the game of cricket, my team-mates, Gauteng cricket, Lions cricket and especially to Cricket South Africa for my actions.
"At the time that the meetings with Bodi and the fixers happened, I never had any intention of fixing matches or taking money.

Alviro Petersen was Glamorgan’s captain in – a summer which saw the South African opening batsman amass over 2, runs in all cricket for the Welsh county, besides reaching the 1, run landmark in Championship cricket in the final game of the summer, away to Kent at Canterbury.
During the summer Alviro also posted a career-best double hundred against Surrey in the County Championship match at The Oval, besides making a swashbuckling against the Lancashire Lightning in the Clydesdale Bank40 game at Colwyn Bay. He agreed terms to return to the Welsh county in but during the winter months he returned to the South African Test team, scoring a century in the Third Test against the Sri Lankans and sharing in a double-century stand with Jacques Kallis.
Following his successful recall to the South African Test team, Alviro informed the Club that he had had a change of heart about retiring from international cricket and asked the Club to release him from his commitment. Alviro subsequently spent the first half of the season playing for Essex before appearing in the Protea’s Test series against England.
