Bipasha Basu is an Indian actress who was born in in Delhi, India. She is the second of three sisters. Her family later moved to Kolkata, where she spent her childhood. In her school years, Bipasha was passionate about basketball and dreamed of becoming a doctor. However, as she entered her senior classes, she took her first steps in the modeling business and tasted popularity, which changed her values somewhat.
In her early school years, Bipasha was not popular among her peers and was considered an outcast because of her dark skin color. However, at the age of 16, she won her first beauty contest called "Godrej Cinthol Supermodel". The following year, she became the third runner-up in a contest in Florida, and her modeling career took off. Bipasha worked primarily in New York, participating in advertising campaigns for the modeling agency "Ford".
