বাংলা সাহিত্যে যাদের লেখনীর অবদান আজও স্মরণীয় সাহিত্যিক শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় হলেন তেমনই একটি নাম। বাংলা কথাসাহিত্যিকদের মধ্যে বিশিষ্ট একজন হলেন শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, বাঙালির ঘরে ঘরে সমাদৃত অত্যন্ত জনপ্রিয় ‘ব্যোমকেশ বক্সী’ তার কলমে স্পর্শেই হয়ে উঠেছে পাঠকদের সেরা গোয়েন্দা গল্পের অন্যতম।
জন্ম
শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ৩০ শে মার্চ ১৮৯৯ সালে উত্তরপ্রদেশের জৌনপুর নামক শহরে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন আদি নিবাস উত্তর কলকাতার বরানগর কুঠিঘাট অঞ্চল।
শিক্ষাজীবন
১৯১৫ সালে মাত্র ১৬ বছর বয়সে শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ম্যাট্রিক পরীক্ষা পাশ করেন ।তার স্কুলজীবন কেটেছে মুঙ্গেরে ।খেলাধুলোর ভীষণ নেশা ছিল তার ,ফুটবল ,ক্রিকেট থেকে টেনিস ,হকি ,বাস্কেটবল সবেতেই পারদর্শী ছিলেন ।
তার বাবা সবসময় চাইতেন ছেলে আইনজীবী হোক । তবে তার মনে সবসময় দ্বন্দ্ব ছিল তিনি আইন পড়বেন নাকি সাহিত্য চর্চায় ব্রতী হবেন এই নিয়ে । ১৯১৫ সালে তিনি ভর্তি হন বিদ্যাসাগর কলেজে ১৯১৯ সালে বিএ পরীক্ষায় উত্তীর্ণ হওয়ার পর পাটনায় আইন নিয়ে পড়াশোনা করতে যান।
১৯২৯ সালে ওকালতি থেকে পিছিয়ে গেলেন ,তার বাবাও বুঝতে পেরেছিলেন ওকালতি থেকে ছেলের পথ আলাদা ,শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় মনস্থির করে নিয়েছিলেন সাহিত্যেই নিজেকে নিয়োজিত করবেন।

আধুনিক বাংলা সাহিত্যকে যে সমস্ত সাহিত্যিক তাঁদের নিরন্তর সাহিত্য সাধনার মাধ্যমে সমৃদ্ধতর করে তুলেছেন কথাসাহিত্যিক শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় তাঁদের মধ্যে অন্যতম। বাংলা সাহিত্যে তিনিই প্রথম যথাযথ গোয়েন্দা কাহিনীর প্রবর্তক। গোয়েন্দা ব্যোমকেশ বক্সী শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের এক অসাধারণ সৃষ্টি। ব্যোমকেশ বক্সীর সৃষ্টিকর্তা হিসেবেই তিনি বাংলা সাহিত্যে অধিক পরিচিত।
শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এর জন্ম ১৮৯৯ সালের ৩০ মার্চ উত্তরপ্রদেশের জৌনপুর নামে এক ছোট্ট শহরে। তিনি মামার বাড়িতে জন্মগ্রহণ করেছিলেন। আদি নিবাস উত্তর কলকাতার বরানগর কুঠিঘাট অঞ্চলে। তাঁর পিতার নাম ছিল তারাভূষণ।তারাভূষণ ছিলেন ডাকসাইটে উকিল ।তিনি পূর্ণিয়ায় ওকালতি করতেন। তারাভূষণ বাল্যকালে রবীন্দ্রনাথের সংস্পর্শে এসেছিলেন। জোড়াসাঁকোর ঠাকুরবাড়িতে তারাভূষণ ও সরলা দেবী এক সঙ্গে গান শিখতেন।
শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় পূর্ণিয়া থেকে ম্যাট্রিকুলেশন পাশ করেন। এরপর ১৯১৫ সালে তিনি কলকাতায় বিদ্যাসাগর কলেজে ভর্তি হন। এই কলেজে তিনি শিশিরকুমার ভাদুড়ীকে শিক্ষক হিসেবে পান। কলকাতায় থাকার সময় তিনি হোস্টেল ও মেসে থেকেছেন। এই সময় অজিত সেনের সঙ্গে তাঁর বন্ধুত্ব। শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সাহিত্যচর্চার অন্যতম দোসর এই অজিত সেন। ক্রিকেট, ফুটবল, টেনিস, ভলিবল খেলায় তিনি যথেষ্ট পারদর্শী ছিলেন। কলকাতা থেকে স্নাতক হওয়ার

Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay was a famous writer from Bengal who has been associated with Bollywood as well as Bengali cinema. Byomkesh Bakshi, the famous fictional detective is a creativity of this great writer. He contributed in the forms of novels, short stories, plays and screenplays.
